Why film in Malta?

The islands are extremely picturesque and everybody speaks English or Italian or both. Malta has the cleanest water in the Mediterranean. Our architecture bears homage to 6000 years of history and 200 generations of civilisation

The climate is moderate with twelve months of sunshine.

A fresh look at Malta will add more precious details to the grand past.

Malta is the ideal location for modern and period epics with historical tapestry hanging behind the platform.

Through 50 years of filming Malta has already taken care of the necessary infrastructure. The Mediterranean Film Studios offer the largest artificial tanks in the Mediterranean, and several high-calibre film directors have availed themselves of Malta's unique provisions.

Fort Ricasoli is the ideal back-lot for large scale set building and has recently housed two major epics, Gladiator and Troy. The 70,000sqm fortress also contains some wonderful interiors with some unique curtain walls, bastions, ravelins and corridors. It's huge stores can house all the different departments of a film.
